Should Rihanna really have unveiled a new tattoo on her shoulder?
On Tuesday, December 8, 2009, Rihanna attended the Vevo launch party. Vevo is the creation of Universal Music Group, YouTube, and Sony Music Entertainment. It is being billed as a premium music video and entertainment experience. The singer wore black and gold from head to toe (see photo). Rihanna’s short hair with blond bangs was worn swept to the side. Rihanna’s shoes and belt were shiny and gold-toned. The shoes were covered in the spikes that Rihanna has been seen wearing so much of lately. Her pants were high-waisted and had tapered legs. Her short black blazer had astoundingly pointy shoulder pads and plenty of bare skin peeked out from beneath the blazer. And the new tattoo? It reads: “Never a failure always a lesson.” The singer said she had the tattoo inked backwards so that she can read it in the mirror. The singer, who has often been seen wearing a miniature gun pendant necklace, had the weapon etched across her ribcage. She visited Los Angeles based tattoo artist BangBang, who initially drew two guns on either side of the tops of her arms. But the singer decided against having the weapons inked on in such a prominent position because of her contract with make-up brand Cover Girl. BangBang wrote on his website: “I really wanted to put it here [on her arms]… She loved ‘em. But, Cover Girl wouldn’t have liked it much… and they pay the bills! Ended up doing it on her ribs.” Why did Rihanna get a gun tattoo? Her tattoo artist BangBang revealed of the ink, which he gave her last Thursday at her Hollywood mansion: “We’ve been talking about the idea for a year. She had a necklace with a gun, and I love it.
