Should Public Funds Pay for Election Campaigns?
As the Obama campaign has recently announced that it will not use public funds to support the 2008 election, the Washington Post has also revealed that the District of Columbia government spent about $50,000 in travel expenses over the past several months to send police security with Mayor Adrian M. Fenty on out-of-town trips to campaign for Barack Obama. The use of public funds for travel apparently has been a longtime practice among DC mayors and the money is coming out of the pockets of DC taxpayers. It seems to me we need some serious reform when it comes to campaign financing. What do you think? Comments (0)See All Posts
