Though pseudogenes are common throughout the genomes of organisms, it is often difficult to prove a sequence truly represents a pseudogene. Therefore experimentally supported pseudogenes are acceptable only for TPA:inferential. In addition, pseudogenes may be submitted as part of a study that includes TPA:experimental and.or DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank functional homologs as comparison sequences.
