Should Prostitution be legal in the US?
Yes. They the Government could tax the crap out of it. I also think it should be legal, the the prostitutes ONLY allowed to accept credit cards. That way nobody is getting killed for money, it’s easy for the IRS to keep track of it too. It’s also easier for spouses to catch other spouses that way (didn’t say people should cheat, just said prostitution should be legal). I also think the credit card companies should then be required to report it to the persons medical insurance company. Visiting prostitutes should be the same as skydiving. You need the extra rider on your medical insurance for it to be covered. No extra coverage, then the medical insurance is off the hook if you contract an STD. Yup, legalize prostitution, and LOWER gas tax!
The operative word in your question is “legal”. One of the larger problems with our society is using “legal” and “moral” interchangably. If our country gives the right to religious freedom then we have to accept that our sense of morality is going to be different. Given this fact, the laws we create to govern ourselves must be based on what is in the greater good for everyone and not our individual ambiguous sense of “right” or “wrong”. So now the question becomes legalizing sex work. We have spent years and so many of our hard earned tax dollars into trying to abolish it’s existence and it continues to exist. So why do we continue to try to outlaw it, if there is no change? Isn’t that the definition of insanity…continuing to do the same thing but expecting different results? Making sex work illegal right now leads to spreading rates of STDs, especially HIV/AIDS. Women are constantly being taken advantage of because of pimps and have no current legal recourse. Frankly, it makes so mu
