Should Police high speed chase be allowed?

People fail to stop for many reasons. The vehicle could be stolen, TWOC’d, the occupants wanted, in possession of unlawful items, i.e drugs, stolen property, it could be a drunk driver, or something innocuous like no insurance. Unfortunately however good the available technology is, it would not really help in any of the situations above. The police have in place, policy and procedure for the pursuit of vehicles. Granted it does not stop fatalities or serious injuries occuring from time to time, but it does go some way to preventing more from happening. A few years ago Humberside Police withdrew their pursuit policy and therefore officers were not allowed to pursue vehicles. It clearly did’nt work and the policy was re-instated. If officers were not allowed to pursue vehicles then offenders would clearly take advantage of that and the public would suffer in the long run. Drunk drivers would not stop and be allowed to continue their journey, potentially putting someones life at risk. Cr
