Should Poetry Rhyme and what makes a poem?

0

There are different kinds of rhymes. You get the obvious sort of rhyme like “Blue” and “Clue”; and then you get the rhymes where it’s more the sound that rhymes, like “Blue” and “Taboo”; and then you get poems that have a definite rhythm and beat which takes the place of the rhyme. I think that it’s incredibly difficult to write a poem with obvious rhymes that doesn’t sound childish. The writers of old did it extremely well (Shakespeare etc) but most modern writers prefer to find other ways of making the poem a whole.
