Should physicians be allowed to continue practicing while undergoing confidential treatment for addiction to alcohol and/or drugs?

They should not be allowed to continue practicing and possibly contribute to the accidental death of a patient. The consumer(patient) needs protection from these things since the doctor can not carry on their profession safely. Why should a doctor’s financial well being be put above a patient’s well being! I guess that is why there is so many malpractice suits.

I think that if it does not affect their line of work they should be able to continue treating patients. But if it is affecting them at the work place then they should definetly not be able to continue treating their patients.
