Should People who Leave Islam be Executed?

Christians aren’t innocent of killing people who have chosen to leave their religion, but capital punishment for apostasy is fortunately a relic of the Christian past thanks to modern secularism and secularization, at least. Islam, however, hasn’t made the same progress and so we find Muslims today sincerely advocating the death of those who leave Islam for another religion or who abandon religion and theism entirely.
