Even with a tightly controlled/regulated system the people who would be most likely to take advantage of this are people from the most vulnerable of positions. There are many health problems that not having both kidneys can cause and can make these people’s situation even worse by creating health problems that would prevent them from getting/keeping jobs that would help them better their situations. We discussed this in one of my college classes and the professor gave us infomration concerning the market in organs in India where most of the people who sold their kidneys were very impoverished women who either had good husbands who needed to keep their strength up in order to work or bad husbands who didn’t support them and who needed the money to support their children in the short term and ended up with greater health problems that prevented them from working later on.
