Should Paris Hilton be excused from prison, because she is so vital for the development of the Internet?
Paris Hilton has nothing to do with the development (or vitality) of the internet! If she vanished tomorrow, there would be another ditz to take her place. But…driving while drunk is another matter. Drunk driving is a leading cause of fatal accidents. There is never, never, never a good excuse/reason for driving under the influence, which Paris Hilton did. For this her driver’s license was revoked for a period of time. Ignoring this, she continued to drive and was arrested for this crime. She absolutely should do jail time just like anyone in a similar circumstance would have to do. Treating her differently would send an appalling message to young people (and others too) about the seriousness of driving while under the influence.
