Should parents use rewards to motivate their childs behavior?

Depends on what the reward is. We hardly ever use monetary rewards. Things that we use would be an extra 30 minutes of tv, extended arts and crafts time, they get to pick the dinner and dessert we have for the weekend, fancy-pants meals (everyone dresses to the nines and we have an extravagant dinner at home), extra reading/story time, etc. These are usually things that bring the family closer together which is an extra reward.
