Reply |Contact This is an idea I played around with about eight months ago. I read recently that 62% of Ontarians polled are not satisfied with the amount of effort the federal government is taking to prevent our province from slipping into “have-not” status. Over the last several years, Ontario, a supposèd “have” province, along with Alberta, has been obligated to pay more into the federal coffers that it has drawn. In more recent years, this has grown to $25+ billion EVERY YEAR from Ontario, some say more! There does not appear to be any political will on the part of both major federal parties to do anything about this, and despite Premier McGuinty’s making noise on the subject, he never received more than lip service at the federal level. Well over 100,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost with the auto sector becoming a casualty. The forestry industry has suffered as well.
