Should nuns still be wearing their religious habits?

0

Without their habits, Nuns today seem like everyday ordinary folk. In reality, they ‘should be’ different. Wearing the habit is both an expression of faith and it is also a big advertisement. People see it and they ask questions. Not sure, but believe it came about that Nuns wore the habit to hide their bodies from all, including themselves. When i was young I visited a Convent and was surprised to learn there were no mirrors in the building. Modesty, chaste life, less chance of temptation for them, and anyone who sees them. Without the habit, they no longer stand out as a person of God. Personally, I believe they should as an example to others.

It should really depend on the particular religious order. Some nuns wear secular clothing, and some wear religious habits. I’m not sure though that there should be nuns at all unless they are widows given that God’s first commandment in Scripture was to be fruitful and multiply.

What is your question?

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
