I think you meant to say ‘no’? The bank should have been allowed to fall. For the billions of punds of our money that this Government have pumped into this privately owned bank, they could have built 250 new hospitals, or given every taxpayer in the country a year off from paying income tax. They’re quick to point the finger at others when the failure isn’t there’s, so why shouldn’t market forces prevail in this situation? There is absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that they will be able to recoup this money if they nationalise Northern Rock by selling it on. That’s our bleeding money they are playing political games with, because we all know that the only reason they bailed out Northern Rock when they did was because Gordon brown was toying with calling an election and the collapse of NR would have been suicide due to the impact it would have had with Labour voters in the Northern constituencies.
