Should Nokia be forced to create Symbian for every smart phone?

Microsoft didn’t create the IBM platform it is writing the software for so it inherits it’s problems such as having multiple vendors and requiring many drivers. It is the market Microsoft is in so you would expect them to cover all the current hardware so their OS will run correctly. The reason why Microsoft is slammed with the removing the browser, is partially because controls the majority of the market share but also there is a history behind it and the anticompetitive behaviour Microsoft once used to make IE as popular as it is today and is what destroyed Mosaic/netscape. My question to you is why do you think Apple should take the exact same approach to developing software as Microsoft? I think Apple is taking an interesting alternative approach especially with including its own software distribution tool for the iPhone and I bet you that Microsoft will come out with its own software distribution system that mimics it over the coming year as it has already been rumoured. • NoMoreN
