Should NHL refs receive suspensions for overly bad calls?

I’m not a Flyers fan either but I agree they got jobbed last night with some suspicious calls. It was quite clear to everyone outside the Toronto HQ (and not wearing rose-tinted Habs glasses) that the puck was played above the crossbar. And I don’t see how any ref in his right mind can call that penalty on Richards, much less with one minute to go in a playoff game. When you consider all of the non-calls that we live with in the 3rd period of playoff games, it’s a joke that it was called. The refs are accountable for the way they ref the game and they can be excluded from officiating any further games in the playoffs, but when you see the Toronto HQ office making the bad calls, don’t hold your breath. They have a Union afterall. The refs tend to overreact to the crowd at times (Brett Hull in the crease), so it’ll be up to the Flyer fans to bring the noise when the series heads to Philly. Perhaps they can swing a few calls their way.
