Should Newton be credited with gravitational theory?

0

Actually neither one should get credit for gravitational theory. Newton only described how gravity works between two masses objects in space. He had no idea “why” gravity worked the way that it did and completely ignored that aspect of the phenomenon. Only after Einstein incorporated gravity in his General Relativity did someone actually describe the actual nature of gravity and how it works between two masses bodies in space. Einstein General Relativity describes how mass tells gravity how to curve, and gravity tells mass how to move in warped space.
