Should my brick or stone building be waterproofed after repointing?
This is a topic of some debate among professionals. In many cases the application of sealers is unnecessary once the masonry has been sealed by repointing. However, it may be warranted in some situations where old, soft masonry has begun to erode and is less able to withstand the deteriorating forces of the wetting/ drying cycles.
