The idea of outsourcing equipment maintenance functions has strong appeal for hospitals interested in cutting costs, but there are also strong benefits of in-house departments as well, according to new research. Several experts interviewed for the cover story in the July/August 2004 issue of Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology agreed that smaller hospitals stand to gain the most by outsourcing.
