Should Japan accept a lot of immigrants?
I don’t think Japan should loosen its immigration laws. The Japanese identity is heavily reliant upon the fact that Japan is Japanese. If Japan allowed many immigrants to enter, they would lose their cultural identity and I support cultural preservation. Japan was not founded on the same principles as the United States, so they have no obligation to accept more immigrants.
No. Japan and east Asian countries should not accept lots of immigrants. 98% of population in Japan is Japanese. 95% is Han race is in China, 98% is Han Chinese in Taiwan. Nearly 100% is Korean in S.Korea. These territories should take mono culture policy. Who said multi culture and multi racial society is good solution? How do you explain the benefit for locals? Japan want Japanese things. 10 years ago, ppl said Japan shoud accept a lot of immigrants for keeping their life. But see today, nothing has been changed so much. Japan and East Asian countries know they don’t wanna repeat the same failure like the west, such as riot in France, racial conflicts in London, and LA riots in 1992, etc. Japan is trying to solve the population problem with high tech right now.
In my opinion, Japan should stay the way it is. Someone had mention about the aging population problem. If Japan is in need of more workers I believe it should relax its immigration laws but not at the cost of Japanese jobs. If the unemployment rate is high, Japan should make immigration stricter. I think it depends on the current economic situation. The problem is the cost of more foreigners as opposed to the benefit. There seems to be a correlation with more foreigners and crime.
Maybe this should be decided on local level, because while there are super-overcrowded cities, the population in some rural areas is predominantly senior and the economic is declining.If the leaders in a certain area decide that accepting more immigrants would help in any way the development of the area, maybe it won’t be a bad idea at all. Only, my guess is that the immigrants must be educated people with certain skills.
