A local businessman was charged in the murder of his wife at their tony Isleworth home. Developer James Robert Ward, 61, was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Diane Elizabeth Ward, Orlando Business Journal broadcast partner Central Florida News 13 reported Tuesday. Ward reportedly called 911 at 7:50 p.m. Monday and told the operator, “I just shot my wife … she’s dead .. She’s on the floor of the master bedroom,” News 13 reported. Deputies said they found Diane Ward with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at 8:23 p.m., News 13 reported. Ward was previously chairman and chief executive officer of Land Resources LLC, a real estate investment company that filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2008 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. The company’s assets were sold in January of this year for a total of $15.6 million, according to media reports. Sources:
