Should Italy wear black bands against Brazil in London?
The Italian Minister of Youth, Giorgia Meloni, has proposed to the national team players to carry black bands on their sleeves during the friendly match against Brazil in protest against the non-extradition of a wanted terrorist, Cesare Battisti. The defense minister, Ignazio La Russa, has suggested an even more radical measure: cancelling the match scheduled for February 10th in London. “This should be a friendly game and there are no reasons for friendship with a country whose government allows terrorists to walk freely the beaches of Rio,” said La Russa. Still, their initiative is unlikely to succeed because the soccer community and the Ministry of Foreign affairs are opposed to it. “It would be an exaggerated and untimely measure.
