Should it Be Daunte Culpepper or Drew Stanton?
Culpepper is the overweight, out-of-shape, rusty former All-Pro while Stanton is the athletic, somewhat unpredictable, injury-prone second-year former second-round pick. In the last game against the Jaguars, Culpepper showed flashes of his former ability and also his huge arm, hitting Calvin Johnson on a perfect 51-yard bomb early in the game. His mobility was okay but not as good as in the past. Stanton played a short stint and looked pretty effective for the time he was in but he hasn’t played much at all or even practiced in his two years in the NFL. The Lions coaches have said putting Stanton in with his current experience level is “unfair,” but then again these guys are not exactly Bill Walsh when it comes to bright offensive football minds. Why the Lions Should Play Stanton Stanton should get the bulk of the reps because the Lions know much more about Culpepper than they do Stanton. Both guys can play but Stanton should start.
