A schools system is NOT there for your entertainment. You are there to learn, and their computer system is set up for that purpose. By the same token, you can use a nail-gun to shoot people but there are factory-installed safeguards to prevent such misuse, or at least make it impossible without some serious tampering. Second, if someone accesses something they shouldn’t through their network, it could cause them a lot of problems that they really shouldn’t have to deal with; police, Homeland Security, NSA, FBI, BATF, RIAA, MPAA, WTF, EIEIO…. So yes, they are strict and for a few good reasons.
