A: Fixed exclusions that have resulted in permanent exclusions should not be included in this indicator as the pupil would not have a definite date of return to the same school. The guidance states, ‘A fixed-term exclusion means that a definite date of return to the same school has been given.’ Q: We have pupils who were initially given a fixed exclusion with a date to return to the school. During the period the pupil was off the matter was investigated further and on return to the school the pupil(s) were informed that the seriousness of their actions warranted a permanent exclusion.
