The 2-day event attracts over 50,000 attendees. There will be unique music, cultural performances, and lots of vendors: food, fashion, handicrafts, and other products. Asian festival has blended. The sixth annual Asian Festival will be held at the Lake Newport Tennis Facility this weekend. The Asian Festival is a free, two-day event to promote a greater understanding of Asian Americans and their cultures. Each year the festival showcases the culture of a particular Asian county and this year India was chosen. The festival will celebrate the diverse culture of India through food, arts, crafts and entertainment including Bollywood and Bhangra dancing. This year’s Asian Festival is also going green with help from The Green Business. All bottles, plastic containers, cardboard boxes, tennis ball cans and other aluminum cans will be recycled. Free valet parking will be provided to those who ride bicycles and priority parking will be provided for those driving hybrid and clean fuel cars. Vendors are required to use only napkins with recycled content and all tennis balls will be donated to Colin Powell Elementary School to be used in its tennis programs.
