Should I use Travellers cheques, cash or credit cards while in Greece?
As a start we would recommend carrying a small cash balance with you upon departure from your country. An amount of 200 Euro will typically suffice to cover any current or unexpected expenses once you arrive in Greece. Keep in mind that even though credit cards are widely used throughout Greece (especially in Athens), during your TrueGreece experience you may be visiting remote locations and small villages on the islands, where credit cards are not accepted. We would therefore recommend carrying small cash amounts with you at all times while in Greece. There are plenty of ATM machines in Athens, as well as on the islands, so using your debit card to withdraw cash on regular intervals is more preferable than carrying large cash amounts. We would however recommend consulting with your local branch before your trip to ensure that you will be able to use your debit card while in Greece.
