A bare probe can be used for continuous level or point level measurement, with or without differential, in low dielectric/non-conductive processes — provided condensate does not form on the probe, which could potentially short it out. A bare probe can also be used for point level measurement, without differential, in high dielectric/conductive processes — again, provided condensate does not form on the probe. (Please note that in this last type of process, the probe will be tip sensitive in vertical mount cases, and trip at or near the probe in horizontal mount cases.) When in doubt, use an INSULATED PROBE.
