Should i trust my ultrasound scan can i ask for another one ?
get another scan or ask to see the file, they have to note what sex the baby is even if you don’t want to know sometimes these things happen so quickly, during my 33week pregnant i had over 15scan which all seemed to be very quick but each time they told me he was a boy and he was, they are usually not wrong about it being male but often abot bit being a female… good luck.
Sweetie they probably weren’t really focusing on the sex of the baby, more on the things they need to check, heart, brain, blood flows and other organs. They may very well not have been able to properly identify the sex of the baby if it was lying in a difficult position. They tend to do that come scan time! Generally though, they will certainly say something pretty quickly if they are not happy with something and order you back if necessary, trust me, I know!! But honestly, if you feel strongly about it, get a report from them first and then make a decision. If you still feel the same, definitely order another scan, be prepared though, they may even charge you for a second scan. The need to buy boys or girls clothes really shouldn’t be an issue, there are plenty of lovely little unisex outfits that you can buy for bringing bub home, then you and your partner/hubby can go shopping together when baby is born. I think that would be more special, for both of you. xx All the best sweetie.
All the pictures they took will go to your DR. At your next appointment you can ask what he/she thought of the scan and bring up your concern that it went fast. But normally they do and the techs do this all day everyday, so they know what to look for right away. You can ask for another scan, but if the DR doesn’t see fit to have one, they will not put the order in.
More likely to be wrong if it’s a girl than a boy, sometimes they cant see the little penis but if there is one he must be a boy.. I couldn’t see my sons either. I made them point it out on the scan and even when I was staring at it and it had been pointed out several times I was still at a loss how they could tell.
The twenty week scan is very important… they should go over the baby very carefully to make sure he is developing correctly. If you feel that you were “cheated” request another one. Keep in mind that insurance may only cover one ultrasound and you might have to cover any extras. On the ultrasound when you look at the baby if it looks like a hot dog it is a boy but if it looks like 3 lines it is a girl. The ultrasound techs are normally pretty good about getting the gender right. They see so many babies that they don’t have to study the picture very hard like you or I would. Best of luck.
