Should i take GCSE Art or French?
I wouldn’t do a language just because you thought it was useful if you didn’t enjoy it. One thing to consider is workload: Art is definitely a lot of work: both for the exam and coursework but it is something that, if you enjoy and are dedicated, you can do well in. Languages, on the other hand, seem to be more about familiarising yourself with them: the first year might be grammar and vocab but after that it gets a lot easier: coursework is shorter (if you do it at all) and the exams are probably less stressful. You can also learn languages outside school and achieve as high, or even a higher level. They are something requiring time and, depending on how intensive you are, you could pick one up to GCSE level in a couple of months or several years. Since you probably want a language for career options you also have more time: you could use the gap between GCSE and A level (the long summer) to learn a language and put it into practice by visiting the country.
