I have taught practical chemistry to several colour blind students. Although there were problems which needed some help, all were able to successfully complete the course and continue to university. They didn’t actually do chemical engineering, but did need the use of colour. There are shades and forms of colour blindness from simple red-green colour blindness to just seeing all colours as shades of grey. You don’t tell us how severe yours actually is. Most people can cope with red-green colour blindness in these careers… so don’t get too put off by the doom mongers who answer. Ability in chemistry, physics and mathematics is more important. The best place to get an answer is from from someone who actually knows! You don’t say which country you are in, but there must be a professional body for chemical engineers in your country, such as the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
