I was under the impression that most medical schools actually prefer you NOT to take A&P. They want to teach you A&P their own way on a clean slate. So if you’re pre-med, I’d recommend not taking A&P.

A&P is not a prereq course for medical school. It won’t “hurt” you to take the course, but it isn’t going to be that much help to you, either. You’ll have both anatomy and physiology courses in med school and they’re taught separately–much more in-depth than an A&P class. To be honest, having had A&P class and having been to med school, I wouldn’t recommend taking a nursing A&P class. An admission committee might question why a pre-med student took a nursing course (it might suggest to them that you weren’t resolute toward pre-med). It isn’t going to carry any weight with an admission committee that you took the course–they know a nursing A&P course doesn’t delve as deep. That said, a nursing A&P course isn’t a cakewalk, either, especially if you plan on doing it in the condensed summer course. You run the risk of negatively impacting your GPA.
