Should I take american or canadian to puerto vallarta?
As a Canadian you definitely don’t want to convert to US and then have to convert to MXP. You will lose twice. Bring a small amount of either Mexican Pesos (you can likely buy them at your local Canadian bank, my Mom just bought some for her trip at the CIBC near her.) or US dollars for the airport, taxi, to tip the bell boy or whatever but then do exactly as Charlie said and use your ATM card to withdraw Mexican Pesos from the bank machine in Mexico. There are Scotiabank branches in Mexico so if you happen to bank with them and find one of those you can even withdraw money without paying an interact fee. If you can’t find a Scotiabank then any Mexican bank will do, the fees are small. They usually add up to about $5, most of that charged by your Canadian bank. But the way I look at it, it’s cheaper and easier than buying travelers cheques.
