Should I switch to high quality foods such as Innova and Wellness?
Answer Hi Lynn, If all causes such as parasites have been ruled out, and you are not simply feeding too much overall, it’s possibly the food. If the extra volume has only been one day it could be a little bacteria, but normally with that you’d see diarrhea, not just increased output. But even if it isn’t directly related, I would still upgrade to a premium. Often people will assess a food by just the subjective signs – I sometimes hear “but he’s doing well on _____” – and by that they mean good coat, teeth, weight etc. While these are important, disease related to chronic feeding of a lower grade food may not be immediately visible, may take years to develop, may require veterinary testing to uncover. Feeding a cheaper food is a false economy because often, it leads to savings now, but big payout at the vet later on. (Not to mention the dog’s quality of life). I would prefer to see any puppy raised on a high quality food, that first year of growth is so important. Please do consider on
