Should I specify mount options in the auto.master file, or the subfile (ie auto.home)?

You can specify mount options in either (or both). The last option encountered will be the one that’s used. If you need a mount option to be global for a map, you should put it in the auto.master file. If you need it to be specific for a mount, you should put it in the subfile (ie auto.home).
