Should I Retire in Costa Rica or Retire in Panama?
I don’t know what you priorities for a retirement location are, but I can still offer some information about these two countries in particular. Standard of living: Costa Rica has a higher standard of living than Panama, according to the Human Development index. It ranks 48th in the world, compared to 58th for Panama. Politics: Costa Rica has had the longest uninterrupted period of democracy in Latin America. Real estate: I don’t know when you’re planning to retire, but Panama is experiencing very rapid growth in real estate, especially around Panama City. I’m no realtor, but usually in situations like this an investment in property now could become quite valuable in the future. Beauty: I have been to both of these countries and they are both very beautiful! Overall, I think the situation is better in Costa Rica. I would suggest doing a lot of research into property before making a decision, especially if you are moving there from far away.
