Should I remove my popcorn ceiling before installing crown molding?

0

I installed crown molding with popcorn ceilings. What I did was took a small piece of crown, set it to the wall and ceiling, then took a putty knife and scraped off the popcorn just far enough for the molding to sit flush against the ceiling. Once I got the crown installed, I caulked the edge with paintable caulking. While the caulking was still wet, I took a cheap paint brush, dipped in water, and smoothed out the caulking. I then primed the crown and ceiling and painted. Beautiful.
