You already pay their housing in the form of Section 8 subsidies and other programs, as well as now being stuck with their mortgages. You used to buy their food through the food stamp program, which I believe has gone to EBTs. Likewise you pay their heating and air conditioning. Whereas working people must pack their kids’ lunches, they get a hot lunch free at school, on your tab. I did not even get to the various forms of cash assistance they receive, and to which they are “entitled”. In an odd twist brought about by the generosity of the welfare state, “the poor” suffer much higher incidence of obesity, obesity-related illnesses, and obesity-related chronic conditions.
