Should I order the mtDNA Refine (HVR2) test?
The mtDNA Refine test adds HVR2 results to your existing HVR1 results. You should consider ordering the mtDNA Refine test if you have an HVR1 match whom you suspect you match in recent times but want some additional confirmation. Note though for that some of the most common HVR1 and HVR2 result haplotypes, HVR2 testing adds little refinement in matches. If your goal is to improve the resolution of your geographic and deep ancestral origins, your needs may be better met by upgrading directly to the Mitochondrial DNA Full Genomic Sequence (FGS) test.
