Should I learn to play the cello or the accordion?
Reminds me of the story of the accordion player who was running some errands, and realized the he had left his accordion in the back seat and forgot to lock his car. So he ran back as fast as he could, and when he got ot his car, sure enough — –there were two more accordions in the back seat. I learned to play the accordion first before I took up piano, and I found it most enjoyable, although nobody else around me did. But by learning the sequence of the bass buttons, I unwittingly committed to memory the circle of 5ths — because that’s how they are arranged. Believe me, it was a great help. You will find the ‘cello most difficult compared to the piano or the accordion. You will have to develop your ear much more keenly to keep your intonation accurate. Learning the fingerboard is challenging for us linearly-thinking keyboardists, and the fingering-bowing coordination thing takes some time to master. Heck, bowing is a skill all by itself.
