Should I learn fencing or Kendo (Japanese fencing)?

Assuming you have the time available you can always learn both. At age 33 it seems apparent that this is either for fun or healthy exercise and either one will be good for that. If I were you the first thing I would do is do some research about the availability of each in my area and then move on from that to attending some sessions. See which locations are convenient and which instructors/classes have a style you’re comfortable with. You might also want to go somewhere to take a look at (and try on/out if possible) the gear. Make sure, before committing, that you feel comfortable in the gear you’ll be using during the lessons. Then make a decision based on what you learn in answering all of these questions.
