A severe overbite and crooked teeth can interfere with your bite – your teeth coming together properly. Not getting braces, especially if they have been strongly recommended, can lead to TMJ disorder and periodontal disease among other problems. It’s a matter of good health, not vanity. With major overbites they will use metal braces and often pull a tooth to move your teeth inwards and closer together. It can be a long but worthwhile process.
