Should I just go for a standing backflip on solid ground?
It sounds like you’re pretty close to learning this, so it shouldn’t take long to get. But you obviously want to keep yourself safe while you try it the first few times. Ideally, the best place to do this is at a gymnastics gym, where they have mats and other equipment you can use. Most gyms have open gym times on the weekends where people can go work out on their own, so call your local gyms and check it out. Once you get there, here are two different ways you can go about learning your backflip: 1) Start on the trampoline and do a few flips, taking as little bounce as possible. Once you’re landing them well, lay a thin panel mat over the trampoline and try it like that. You’ll still get a little bounce from the tramp, but you’ll be taking off and landing on a surface that’s more like a floor. Then add another mat on top of the first one; and then another; gradually changing the trampoline into a floor-like surface. Once you can do it well there, you should be ready to try it on the f
