Should i join the coast guard or the vermont air national guard?
Remember the Coast Guard is a Full-time branch of the military. The VT Air National Guard is a Reserve Component of the US Air Force. Are you referring to the Coast Guard Reserve? I think joining the Reserves is a blast. You get quite a different perspective on life compared to your civilian job. My reserve career has taught me alot about leadership along with technical skills. The choice of which branch/component depends on what types of things are you passionate about and what mission of the branch do you most want to support. The Air Guard has missions like Air Mobility, Air Combat, Air Superiority, Information Warefare, plus there is domestic missions like Homeland Security Aviation, disaster response support. The VT Air Guard is actually “owned” by the state and federalized for missions. When its federalized it becomes part of the US Air Force.
