Should I go to Boston University or Umass Amherst?
I was in your same boat, and ended up choosing UMass Amherst because of the $$$. Within Massachusetts, BU has a bit more prestige than UMass Amherst does, but outside the state, the schools are comparable. UMass just built a brand new arts building, so that’s certainly of interest. If you, personally, feel both schools are good fits for you, and you like them both equally as well, you could pick BU because it has a bit more prestige, but as you said, economically, I’m not sure it’s worth the difference in price. Have you seen the aid packages from both schools yet? Wait until you see what they offer you in terms of aid before you decide. If BU would require huge student loans, and UMass would not – me, I’d probably pick UMass. But you’d need to make a tough decision. Maybe do another campus visit before you decide.
