Should I give up marching band to be a camp conselor?
I’m a marching band kid too, so I understand how you feel about it. Here’s my opinion. On the question of your director: Are you going to let *ONE* person wreck the otherwise fun experience that marching band is and drive you away from something you love to do? I’m in my college’s marching band now for the third year. I was in high school marching band for 4 years. That’s 7 years of marching band – 8 this fall. I’m telling you now that style changes *all the time.* There’s nothing wrong with that and it’s not worth getting upset over – it’s just something different. Also, this would be a good experience for you to learn how to deal with someone difficult. I had to deal with a new director my junior and senior years that sounds a lot like yours and it helped me learn how to deal with someone like that, which is great because I can better handle those people when I come across them now.
