Should i get an acoustic guitar or an electric?

I would go with acoustic. You can find some decent ones for less money than an electric guitar + amp + cables and whatnot. Plus, I believe Keith Richards said that you should always practice with an acoustic and perform with either. You can take an acoustic guitar anywhere and play, while you need electricity and room for most electric guitars. Trust me, once you become good at a steel string acoustic, an electric guitar with it’s generally thinner neck will be a breeze to play. Good luck. P.S. No matter what, practice your barre chords. I was frustrated too, but once you got them down, it opens up a world of music for you. Instead of pushing against the strings with your fingers, rely more on your whole arm pulling your hand back against the strings. It helped me.
