Should i exercise with sore muscles?
The body has a mechanism from stopping you doing harm to yourself. In this case your muscles are sore which means that you have not warmed up properly and also not warmed down properly after the exercise. Suggest that you do very gentle exercise with very light weights for a day or so until the soreness has gone. Then start again but be sure to warm up with smaller weights and work up to the heavier. When you have finished your main exercises then you should “warm down”. Doing the reverse to your warm up. This helps to disperse the lactic acid in the muscles and stops the soreness. Finally drink plenty of water during and after the exercises.
You can have sore muscles and still work out. However if your muscles are to sore then you are doing more damage than good. There is a recovery time to heal for what you are doing is ripping and tearing your muscles when you work out. That is the sore that you feel. Let it heal a bit and then go at it again. You can feel your own body so just listen to it and work out how you feel. Do some circuit training that way you are working a specific muscles group on day and another the next giving time to your sore muscles. Just ideas.
Sore muscles are a good sign, it shows that you are beating your muscles up! You MUST eat plenty of protein though, else they wont repair. I recommend instant whey protein before and after a workout. (if you live in the UK, myprotein is a GREAT internet seller) You should really leave a day between workouts, just to let your muscles heal up. I would recommend stretching on these days too. But there’s nothing stopping you from training nearly everyday with sore muscles, as long as you eat enough protein and get plenty of sleep (9 hours is good) because your body will adjust.
