Should I enrol at Boston University or New York University?
Although NYU tends to rank a bit higher on some rankings tables than does BU, it’s not by all that much. In addition, BU has a really good name with employers – a better name, perhaps, than its ranking shows – so I consider the schools to be roughly comparable in reputation. You should ask each school what percentage of their pre-med students who apply to med school, actually get into med school. This would be a telling answer, and if you see that, for example, far more BU students get in than do NYU students, then that would help you make your decision. My personal feel is that, since both BU and NYU are good quality schools, if you graduate with all your med school pre-requisites done, have a good GPA, did some volunteer work in a hospital, and did well on the MCAT, your chances of getting into med school would be equal from either school.
