Should I download Vista Service Pack 1, or wait until it auto-updates?
Hi, If your computer is running nicely atm, then you should wait until the download is mandatory, and Auto Updates downloads and installs it. If you have more than 1 Vista PC, then it makes sense to download the Full SP1 From Microsofts website and install it on each PC. If you use Full SP1 downloaded from Microsofts site, then it would only install the patches that arent installed on your PC. If you use Autoupdate, it would only download and install the patches that arent present on your PC, thus saving time and bandwidth costs, as well as the installation being more reliable.Note that after SP1, vista would slow down a little, so make sure you defrag etc, and after a few days, the speed should end up being slightly faster and more responsive. It is up to how you feel right now…you can have it downloaded off Windows Update if you choose to do that, or you can wait until the update is mandatory, or you can download the full version from Microsofts site if you have lots of Vista Compu
